DESCRIPTION:

Planning projects or future events with those in distant locations has been successfully done using videoconferences. It is a synchronous tool which allows people at two or more locations to see and hear each other at the same time. Keeping the same in mind, a Video Conferencing session by Zoom Technology was conducted on the topic “Food for Thought Prices and the famous Local, National & International Restaurants” of Class VIII under the guidance of Mr. Cunningham (Director of World Class Schools, USA). Countries participated were India, Taiwan, Armenia, Ukraine, Brazil, USA & Peru

These technologies such as videoconferencing bring new ways for teachers to work with students and encourage the development of strategies more consistent with the emerging technology. Although the use of videoconferencing is fairly new to the classroom, it is an interactive communication medium which let students and teachers have a visual connection to those they are working with the other side of the globe. Within the forthcoming years, it will be in the hands of even more educators as the Internet is becoming more available in the school setting.
“Food for Thought” is one of the ongoing Video Conferencing Project which was pre scheduled for Food for Thought Prices and the famous Local, National & International Restaurants” (12:00 GMT to 14:30 GMT). Students (Akul, Dhruv, Shreya Agnihotri & Akshat of Class VIII A and Shreya & Liza of Class VII C) had already prepared a presentation on “Food for Thought Prices and the famous Local, National & International Restaurants” and the same was presented via screen sharing through Zoom Technology. The schedule of presentation was sent by Mr. Cunningham a week before and a link https://esc13.zoom.us/j/242489432 for joining the meeting on Zoom. The countries had been allocated the time slot for the presentation. (Annexure 1)

The session had started at 12:00 GMT (5:30 pm in India). Seven countries and 7 schools had joined the meeting and each country with their time slot was sharing the screen with their presentation, the best part was that none other country could interfere in between the ongoing presentation as it was controlled by host Mr. Cunningham. One by one each country was presenting their Country’s Prices and we were provided the time slot 12:00 GMT (5:30 pm).

Our students had tried to cover the various dimensions starting with brief introduction of school and its affiliation. They further continued with the elaborate discussion on “Food for Thought Prices and the famous Local, National & International Restaurants”. The menu of few restaurants were also explained (PPT & Speech attached as Annexure 2)

Other Countries had also shown excellent slides of their “Food for Thought Prices and the famous Local, National & International Restaurants”. The whole session was recorded by Mr. Cunningham which could be viewed by connecting the link given below: http://youtu.be/BS7YFSAN9Ww. Mr. Cunningham highly appreciated the efforts of students during the session.

Our next session is scheduled in the month of April 2015. The topic and the day is yet to be decided.

It worked as a wonderful experience for the students to have a qualitative discussion without visiting their counterparts.

Overall, it enabled students to be acquainted with some of the price list of the food items of other countries.
